I’ve received a few questions lately on the difference between the English words each and every. Well, these words are pretty easy to understand. Technically speaking…
最近Each とEveryの違いは、なにかという質問をうけました。これらは、結構簡単に理解できます。専門的にいうならば、
Each and Every are used with singular nouns.
EachとEveryは、下記のように単数名詞と共に使われます。
Just like this:
Each child was happy. 「それぞれの子供は、幸せだった。」
Every child was happy. 「すべての子供は、幸せだった。」
Each is used to talk about two or more people or things.
Eachは、２人以上もしくは、２個以上のものについて話すときに使われます。
Every is used to talk about three or more people or things.
Everyは、３人以上もしくは、３個以上のものについて話すときに使われます。
So, that means that often, you can use either word – if there are 4 people or things, either each or every will be correct.
なのでしばしば、どちらの単語でも使うことができるのです。たとえば、もし４人もしくは、４個のものがあったなら each でもeveryでも正解となります。

We don’t use each with these expressions:
下記にあげた表現の中では、 each は使いません。
Almost, practically, nearly, without exception.
He helped almost each every person.
「かれは、ほぼ全員を助けた。」
He has listened to practically each every CD I have.
「彼は、実際私が持っているすべてのCDを聴いた。」
He was late nearly each every day.
「彼は、毎日というほど遅れた。」
Without exception each every child must wear a seatbelt.
「例外なしに、すべての子供はシートベルトをしなければいけません。」
So, that’s the technical difference.
